The network to get you noticed

Music Game Studio gets your songs onto Rock Band Network and into the hands of millions of gamers on Xbox Live, and soon Wii Ware and Sony's Playstation Network. This means that millions of people will see your name and hear your songs. Over 2 million downloadable songs were purchased by Rock Band players in just 8 weeks. Artists get to set the price for their songs, receive 30% of sales and, of course, still retain all copyright ownership. And, in addition to games, gamers tend to buy more CDs and DVDs than most.

Within seconds, it's clear that Rock Band Network isn't for amateurs. The tools being offered by Harmonix are fully-featured, professional programs that are meant for artists serious about getting their content into Rock Band® and, yes, making money. With Harmonix admitting that first-time users will take 20-40 hours to finish a single song "all the way," it's clear that this isn't meant for the average gamers that have a bit of spare time on their hands.

We live in a rough time around music where our audience struggles to pay $20 for a CD but don't hesitate to pay $50 for a game. The notion to pay 99 cents or $1.99 to have a song and repeatedly play with it apparently isn't a big hurdle.
