Rock Band creator Harmonix has announced a new game for XBOX and PS3 consoles. Rock Band Blitz (to be released this summer as a downloadable title on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network) is a single player rhythm-matching game that will not only ship with it’s own song pack, but can use any song in the Rock Band catalog, including Rock Band Network titles.
Rock Band Blitz does not make use of any instrument controllers, just the console controllers, making it more of an arcade-style game experience. Potentially, this will open up the catalog to a whole new set of gamers!
In addition to a Q&A with rockbandaide.com and feature in the Harmonix Rockband.com blog, The Pauses made this amazing video to celebrate their first RBN release. Check it out!
“Underground” is from Wargasm’s third full length release, Suicide Notes. Like Wargasm’s other popular Rock Band tracks, it showcases their incredibly tight, syncopated rhythms, interesting harmonic ideas, and pure brutal force.
This song is less strum abusive than their other RB songs, but the riffs are still deadly serious!
One of the tightest metal bands live or in the studio.
The song has cleared RBN review and should be available in the store on 05/05/11
“Go North”, by The Pauses, our first fully Rockband 3 compatible song, entered the RBN today. Featuring Pro drums, Pro Keys, Keys and Harmony Vocals, this chart is full of RB3 juicy goodness! And we have more songs right behind it, including the latest Wargasm chart, “Underground”.
Our work speaks for itself.
But our clients say it even better!
“Nothing short of amazing. You did some great work on this. I’m stunned!”
- Ross Sewage, Ludicra
“Awesome Dan!!
You guys are killin’ it!
Thanks for everything”
- Andy Timmons, Andy Timmons Band
“That’s awesome, man. Love it!”
- Pete Stewart, Grammatrain
“Nice! Thanks Dan. Looks and sounds amazing.”
- Slim, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club
“Holy Ground…. I say holy crap! That’s so cool.
Great job guys!”
- Quinn Moore, New Rising Son
“That is AWESOME!!! I love that you took the time to really tear apart all the riffs.
I don’t know what to say — it gave me tingles. Brilliant!”
- Rich Spillberg, Wargasm
“Just wanted to share some early RBN feedback. Below is a message I received today:
‘Hey, I saw you guys had a song on Rock Band Network, so I googled to check you out. After hearing the songs on your MySpace page, I think you have a new fan!
I gladly purchased “When We Fall” off of RBN. Very awesome! Do you have plans to get more songs into Rock Band?
Also, I see you have a CD for sale on CD Baby. Curious to know if I could order an autographed one?’
Dan, what can I say, you are the man!”
- Blake Easter, Gentlemen At Arms

More great music on the way soon!
We’ve been making game playable tracks for an incredible variety of artists, and we’ve got more on the way!
“Veils” by Ludicra is currently moving through testing. This epic song by one of the Bay Area’s most respected Black Metal bands is super fun to play. Mixed meters with great guitar and drum solos, what more could you want?
We have more Hardcore Rock coming from Akimbo and Amebix.
Latin Pop coming from Venezuela’s new sensation, Karo.
And some truly amazing acoustic/world music soon to be announced (left you hanging there… sorry).
MGS is thrilled to be working on our first round of Rockband tracks for Alternative Tentacles artists, including “Americadio” by Slim Cessna’s Auto Club and “Veils” by Ludicra.
Alternative Tentacles Records was established by Dead Kennedys front man Jello Biafra in June of 1979. It is one of the longest lasting (and still active) underground record labels around. Although it is perceived by many as a “punk” label, having released records by Dead Kennedys and others, their roster also include great alternative artists like Twang sensations Slim Cessna’s Auto Club and Dash Rip Rock, original Dark Wave giants Amebix, and the Butthole Surfers.
Recent RBN releases
In the last month, we’ve completed and shipped these new rockband tracks:
Power pop hits “So Awesome” and “On the Airwaves” by The Shazam
Dazzling guitar instrumental “Deliver Us” by Andy Timmons
New Country release “Love Song” by No Justice
Classic Thrash Metal “Jigsaw Man” by Wargasm
MLS soccer anthem “The Last Sound” by Grammatrain
More Andy Timmons coming soon!
Another great song by Andy Timmons! “Headed for the Ditch” may well be the most challenging song ever released for rockband. Serious high speed guitar picking and killer bass and drums solos at a heart quickening tempo. Check out this video of the Andy Timmons band playing “Ditch” live! Think you can tackle this one on expert?
People have been clamoring for this song, and it’s finally here. “Engine” by Wargasm is now for sale on the Rock Band network Store and Xbox Live Marketplace! Be warned though, it’s enough to rip your face off.
Videos of EVERY song we’ve done
We realized that people are used to getting 30 second samples when they buy music online, but that doesn’t quite cut it for a new Rock Band song. Music Game Studio has met this need with a brand new Vimeo page. There you’ll find full length videos of our Rock Band creations. And since everything is on Vimeo, you can easily share the songs available now, as well as what’s coming down the pike with your fan base.
