When connected, what you play sounds through the app's piano. If you have several MIDI connections, pick a device from the list (or «All devices»). In «Melodic dictation» and «Scale degrees» you can answer straight from the keyboard (each note is read as a scale degree relative to the tonic).
Everything you play sounds through the app's piano (velocity-sensitive).
Melodic dictation: play the melody — each note becomes a scale degree and is added to your answer; it checks automatically once the melody is complete.
Scale degrees: play the note you hear — the matching degree is selected automatically.
The modes
Intervals — two notes; identify the interval between them.
Chords — a chord; identify its quality (major / minor / seventh…).
Inversions — a chord; identify root position vs. an inversion.
Progressions — a short cadence sets the key, then a progression of 3 to 8 chords; identify the sequence of degrees (I–IV–V…). Pick the length under Settings (“Progression length”); the long ones open at Intermediate and above.
Scale degrees — tonic, then a single note; identify the scale degree (1–7). Functional ear training.
Melodic dictation — a short melody in the key; enter the degrees in order.
Ideas for further ear training
Sing and capture via microphone (sing the interval → the app checks your pitch).
Spot the odd note out in a chord.
Compare two chords — same / different.
A spaced-repetition review queue of the items you missed.
